I still exist... Have been quite busy, to the point that I had to skip some orientation stuff to do two different HSC rehearsals. Otherwise, Brown college pulled a jack on us last night (I'm in Jones), and took all our chairs, so we sat on the tables at breakfast. It wasn't terribly inconveniencing. Apparently we're going to jack them at 4:30 this morning by putting fish in helium balloons and putting them in their commons.

Some Rice smartypants vocabulary for you:

Jack: prank. Not to be confused with jack off.
Tool: jerk. As in, meanie, no-fun person.
SE: Science and engineering major. People who get jobs after college.
Academ: Arts, humanities, or social sciences major. May or may not have a job after graduation. Big rivalry with the SEs.
Baker 13: A group from Baker college who streak in only shaving cream and make buttprints on glass windows on the 13th, 31st and 26th of each month.
Beer Bike: Most hyped event at Rice. Involves chugging (boiled beer or water) and biking. O-week equivalents vary.
Campo: Campus police. Don't call them this to their face.

So, yes. I have had occasion to know all of these this week. My advisors are very cool, my roommate is not uncool, and my suitemates are also cool.

If you want to find me, I am in Jones Central fourth floor, room 464 right. My Rice email is my lj username at rice.edu. My phone number is probably 713 348-1569. Probably. It might not be. It might be something else. I'll wait till the phone is charged to see.

The food's not bad. Yet. It might not get boring, who knows. I can eat the same thing for years.

On my wall is the tigerpianogryphon prismacolor Mathalone masterpiece, a wolf and a tiger on the King's Backs, a double-bladed oriental knife, a lot of chainmail, a dragon calendar, and a tiger wall hanging will arrive soon. My bed is way up high and my desk and dresser are under it, and I can use the wardrobe next to the bed as a shelf for my hoard. You all must come see. It is very cool. And I have a huge keyring full of keys.

My schedule is vaguely planned out, with some changes if I can place out of Aural Skills (ear training) and Theory I. My group registers Friday. Otherwise, I have: Chorale, Shepherd Singers, Archery, Medieval Studies (Legends), Latin, Linguistics (Language and Culture), History of the Hero and His Companion. If I place out of theory and ear training, I'll get two more linguistics classes, and next semester I might start German 200.

There are no "required classes" outside of your major, Reggie, but there are distribution requirements, which means you have to take classes in the three departments other than your own, but there are a bunch of cool classes. Like the class on Sidekicks mentioned earlier.

They make you wear shoes in the servery. I may rebel.

Somebody come see me! When I'm here, I mean. I need an extension cord and a light bulb,
